Do you want to get to know the genuine Andalusia?
Are you looking for an authentic "Andalusian Experience"?
Then come to La Cartuja de Cazalla, in the heart of the Sierra Norte de Sevilla Natural Park, where you can combine a relaxing holiday with inspiring activities and workshops.
Fascinated by the magic and romance of the old monastery in ruin, Carmen Ladrón de Guevara y Bracho took over La Cartuja in 1997 from an Englishman who had bought it a few years earlier from the farmers. With over 30 years of hard work and struggling with administrations, partners and neighbours, she has managed to save La Cartuja and to turn it into a touristic-cultural project of international merit.
Most visitors are foreigners, not only attracted by the place and the building, but also by the philosophy behind the proyect. Carmen has turned La Cartuja into a "Monastery of the 21st Century": an oasis of peace and tranquility, a place where today's traveller can resign from the hectic society, a place for art, meditation and reflection. She says: "I sell spiritual food. La Cartuja means silence and nature, and today that is worth a lot, an awful lot."
So, an ideal place to dedicate a week - or longer if you want - to spanish language, flamenco, gastronomy, painting, ceramics, yoga, walking, biking or nature.
We hope to see you soon!
